Sleep…such a lovely experience for those who do it well. To be able to go to bed, sleep for 7-8 hours and wake up refreshed is one of  Mother Nature’s greatest gifts. 

Why is it then that so many of us can’t sleep well? If you haven’t already heard, Americans are suffering from lack of sleep in greater numbers than ever before. Sleep medications like Ambien and Lunestra are literally flying off pharmacy shelves even at $100 or more per prescription!  

Pharmaceutical companies are having windfall profits and sleep clinics, cropping up  around the country, are trying to figure out what’s going on.

Insomnia describes a  number of sleep disorders that are generally linked to disease or organic problems. Disorders like sleep apnea, narcolepsy, chronic pain and RLS (restless leg syndrome) usually need to be treated medically, often involving the use of machines and medication.

Use your bed for sleep or sex.
If you are eating, working or watching television in bed…don’t! It has been found that many people who use their bed for multiple activities find it difficult settling down to sleep. It is best to condition yourself to using your bed for sleeping and sex only.
