ManRap
Men's Support Groups
Who
says men don't need to talk?
Men
do need to talk...especially to each other!
In
ManRap groups we explore men's issues with the help of other
men. Through the group process men learn from, support and
encourage each other. There is often a synergy created that
enhances the lives of group participants and helps them
grow.
What
can you expect from participating in a ManRap men's group?
* A unique forum in which to work out answers to difficult
questions...
* Feedback from other men with
similar experience...
* Having a reservoir of expertise
and experience available to explore your ideas...
* Forming bonds with other men
who can support and encourage you...
*
Breaking down old barriers and gaining new perspectives...
What
kinds of subjects might be discussed in a group?
Group
members can explore any number of subjects such as:
Career...Stress...Money...Workaholism...Anger...Addictions...Assertiveness...Decision-making...Relationships
with spouses, business partners, friends and parents ...Being
a father...Being a son...Divorce...Depression...Sex...Age...Life's
transitions...and more.
Changing
old dysfunctional patterns and behaviors creates new opportunities
for growth to occur.
Men
are often reluctant to talk about these and other subjects
that concern them. We sometimes think that talking about
these things is the equivalent to complaining. We may not
want to "open up" because we view it as weakness.
Men often stay bottled up, keeping things inside. This type
of behavior can result in irritability, edginess, anxiety,
panic, anger or even depression. It can stifle a man's creativity,
cause conflict in his romatic life and ruin his career.
The
demands of manhood seem to have become more and more complicated.
Expectations from ourselves, our families and society often
create enormous stress. We can either embrace life's challenges
and thrive or struggle along and merely cope. It is up to
us. Creating and maintaining good and lasting relationships,
feeling good about ourselves and being successful and satisfied
in our work are truly challenging goals.
A
men's group can help a man achieve those goals by providing
a unique opportunity for personal growth.
